The Willow Den team is excited to announce that our first fully outdoor nursery, Willow Den at Spartans, is officially open! The nursery is located within the grounds of the incredible Spartans Community Football Academy and offers early learning and childcare to children aged 3 years to school age.
We all know that that outdoor play is critical for children’s development, health, and wellbeing. Our aim at Willow Den is for children to play and learn outdoors in or near the place where they live. We want to rewild childhood by encouraging children to connect with nature, to learn through play how to care for the environment, develop confidence and resilience. We believe that all the learning that takes place indoors, can take place outdoors. Children are encouraged to follow their interests and become curious about the world we live in, supported by caring, experienced early years practitioners.
We have developed a nursery that values each individual child, is inclusive in its policies and practice, and offers high-quality early learning and childcare. Willow Den at Spartans is keen to offer funded early years places, we are currently working through the application process with the City of Edinburgh Council.
